"Seks Bomba" may sound like a band composed of an ethnic group, but the only minority here is talentless musicians. Seks Bomba blow up with a frothing mix of surf, spy, swing, ska and other musical genres, not all starting with "s." Check out "The Cat," whose bubbling organs, bumpalong bass, and chikky-chik guitar make it sound like the soundtrack to a degenerate 60's party scene. "The Right Track (Baby)" is swing, yes, but sincere about it, more intent on adopting swingy mannerisms than trying to be "the real thing" (impossible unless you've got a time machine).

It's been a while since I've heard a record that was "fun" and "good" at the same time. Seks Bomba keep their wits about them throughout, and never let up on the action. Jetpacks, hotel room surveillance and Shriners in a motor scooter race... these are all scenes from the soundtrack of Operation B.O.M.B.A. and if you don't know what the hell I'm talking about but would like to know more, get the record. Bonus: a chirpy instrumental rendition of "Do You Know The Way To San Jose."
