SEKS BOMBA
Operation B.O.M.B.A.

Boston quintet Seks Bomba are a spirited hybrid of several decades worth of pop culture. Part surf, part lounge, part spy-movie soundtrack, their music paints with a wide brush, and no one is likely to miss the fact that there is no hidden message -it's all fun. Imagine if Tom Jones and Dick Dale were twin brothers and they were hired by Angie Dickinson as real life crime-solving bodyguards. Now imagine it's midnight, they're off duty, and they've loosened their ties to hop onstage at the Hi-Hat lounge in downtown Reno, Navada (that's right, Reno, not Vegas). Operation B.O.M.B.A. never lets up. The bands simple components -vocals (sometimes), guitars, organs, bass and drums- work for the common good. High jinx and high style mingle like drunken tongues as the band floor their own sports-car-sleek songs, or take wild turns behind the wheel of numbers by Bacharach, Schiffrin and mancini (three titans of lounge music). The current craze for neglected lower-shelf 60's icons is destined to run out of steam around the time the nines turn to zeroes at the end of the year. But Seks Bomba, no mere slaves to fashion, are wise to the music and will keep right on ticking.
